Job Entry Plan for High School Principal

                                             

Day 1

Goal(s) : Give staff a good first impression of me as a leader.

 

Objective(s) : Show staff that I am going to uphold the high standards set by the school while making research based decisions that benefit the students.

Activities addressing goals and objectives : Set plan in place to evaluate current programs/procedures.  Investigate areas that need updating.

 

Resources needed to achieve goals and objectives:  Need to begin working with leadership team at the school.  Especially in regards to curriculum and student learning.

 

Week 1

Goal(s) : Be approachable and visible to staff continue to evaluate.

Objective(s) : Get to know the teachers and staff and their respective duties.  Listen to staff in regards to any areas that need to be addressed. Be seen throughout the building.

Activities addressing goals and objectives : Take notes of issues that need to be addressed with faculty.  Set into place the plan for the first day of school.  Make expectations clear.

Resources needed to achieve goals and objectives:  Lead teachers, office staff, research effective high schools.

Month 1

Goal(s) : Have a great first month of school in all aspects of the campus.

 

Objective(s) : Establish myself as the leader of an outstanding campus with high standards for students and a collaborative working environment for faculty.

Activities addressing goals and objectives : Be visible every day.  Establish a thorough discipline plan with the CIC and assistant principals.  Work with curriculum coordinators with focus on the testing classes. 

Resources needed to achieve goals and objectives:  Lead teachers, office staff, research effective high schools.

 

Year 1

Goal(s) : Have a great year measured by success on state tests, student participants in extracurricular, student discipline, attendance, etc.

 

Objective(s) : Finish the year with attendance at or above 97%.  Above 85% on all 5 End of Course Exams.  Rate above a 3.5 out of 4 on the Staff Morale Questionnaire (Smith, 1976).

Activities addressing goals and objectives :  Have an ongoing relationship with the local justice of the peace and work together on attendance.  Take part in parent meeting, such as athletic booster club, band boosters, etc. 

Resources needed to achieve goals and objectives:  Parent organizations, planning calendar, school vehicle, attendance brochures (hard copy and electronic)
